PEACEFUL
If you use the Vegas library's online system for requesting books you've probably borrowed from the Boulder City Library. The Boulder City Library has books Vegas libraries never thought to collect. Works by J. G. Ballard or Phillip K. Dick for example.
This is a quiet, well-lighted facility. They have a nice collection of photos showing rugged guys working on the dam. Pussies like us wouldn't have lasted a day!
The sofa in the magazine area is far from comfortable, but it's not soiled and smelly like you would expect in most Vegas libraries. In the few hours I spent perusing magazines, I didn't hear cell phone calls. I especially did not hear any screaming children. Patrons and staff went about their business quietly.
Coming down Adams Blvd., the modest concrete building isn't obvious from the street. I didn't see a sign. You pull into a driveway wondering if you've found the place.
They open at 9 a.m., a feature Vegas libraries need to copy. I don't know if they have free Wi-Fi. Left the laptop at home!
A note on the hours: They're open from 1-4 on Sundays but don't go out there on Sunday in the Summer. Memorial Day through Labor Day they wisely stay closed on Sunday.
