| - I eat here usually with out-of-town guests who I want to have an interesting experience. And it never fails to disappoint. While the atmosphere is certainly unique, the place never seems clean, service is spotty at best and the food is generally below par, at best.
Most recent visit, I ordered a hot dog. I received a decent sized frank, but the bun was huge, way too big for the hot dog. Worst of all the bun was very, very stale. The dog itself wasn't great. Others at my table had similar disappointments. Thinking to the 8-10 times I have been to Ella's, the food pretty much stinks consistently. The only exception for me is the matzo ball soup, but even that seems watered down. Our server was ditzy and service was not fast by any means.
If you want a unique experience, this is a good choice. If good food is your goal, go elsewhere.
