| - I really don't understand the hype. I also don't understand how this place receives such positive reviews. I'm honestly not super-critical of establishments but this food was not good.
My hamburger tasted like the meat had been frozen, what's worse is that I opted for the larger, better beef burger. It reminded me of really cheap cookout meat that you throw on the grill and douse in ketchup in order to keep it down. The fries were tiny and shriveled, and the cheese curds were so big and gooey it seemed almost too unhealthy and just plain gross (and you have to remember, us people who order cheese curds as an appetizer usually don't care about the calories). Every side option costs an additional chunk of change, which I'm perfectly fine with, except none of these sides were worth said money. Trying too hard to be like the 5-star restaurants, serving up the 1-star food.
The only thing this place has going for it is location and feel. It's very modern inside, very clean, and classy (poor quality food was a huge shock). Being located right next to the Capitol makes it very easy to walk to and places it in a very popular area of Madison. The waitress was friendly and my friends and I had a good time, but it seemed like all we did was try to convince ourselves that the next course would taste better and live up to the reviews we'd see online.
In the restaurants defense burgers may not be their specialty and I could've just picked the wrong thing, I would highly recommend they remove them from their menu. My one friend got a burger as well, he would agree that it was beyond sub-par. My other friend got a side of macaroni, she didn't like it but when I gave it a try I thought it was alright. Better than what I ordered at least.
