| - I shop here frequently mostly because it's cheap and near me. Otherwise I avoid it, for a few reasons.
First, the stuff is cheap, yes; but it's often picked over, poorly stocked, and, in the case of produce, in poor shape. Nevertheless, they do have quite a large selection of produce, with seemingly a lot of stuff common to Caribbean cuisine.
Second, while they have quite a few cash registers, they'd need more to comfortably accommodate all the people that shop there. On weekends, expect to wait 10-15 minutes in the *express* line, and even longer in others.
Third, the staff is less than cheerful, particularly the security guards. The main security guard is possibly the least pleasant person I have ever met. He treats you like an idiot if you ask him a question, and instead of explaining new store policies (such as the ban on using your own shopping carts when shopping) in a polite and reasonable manner, he treats you like a criminal or a moron for not seeing the tiny new sign that was just posted in the entry way. I know it's his job to explain the new policy (is understandable, if not completely intuitive), but does he really have to stop old ladies and say, "Do you see that sign over there? Read it to me. No! Not that sign, that sign! Read it!" (Yes, that happened.) Since this guy has been there for at least the two years I've been going, I think it reflects poorly on the store that they'd let him treat customers that way.
So, Rob's, I give you 2/5 stars. You get points for being cheap, I'll give you that. You lose points for being chaotic, unready to accommodate the volume of your customers, having sub-par produce, and for employing people who really don't know how to interact with others.
