| - OK, I'm from Kansas City, so I appreciate flying into an airport that's better than the one I left at home. Sky Harbor, for a mid-sized market, is above average, even if they don't recognize Charles Barkley when he's in town. Seriously . . .
We flew in and were in our Lyft car within five minutes of deplaning. That's pretty darn good. On the return (Memorial weekend Sunday) we had our boarding passes within that same five minutes from the American kiosk and were on our way through the pre-TSA checkpoint, which took about the same amount of time.
Once into the gate area (B gates) there were ample food and beverage choices and restrooms that you didn't have to hike to. A big shout-out to the ladies running Press Coffee that morning . . . what a friendly trio of nice ladies that was! Even with a number of departures in close proximity, there was plenty of seating for all waiting passengers, and I didn't have to wait in line for a spot at the cellphone charging station.
Compared to the small and mid-sized airports I'm through most often - FLL, RSW, MDW, BUF, CLT, SLC - Sky Harbor is as good as any. With family having recently moved to the area, I'm sure I'll get to know PHX quite well. With the ordeal that has become air travel these days, it's nice not to have an airport adding to the frustration. Good job, Sky Harbor!
