El Zocalo has recently started to disappoint in a few regards:
1.) They are now closed on Sundays. What? Seriously? Why? What normal mexican restaurant is closed on Sundays? That is the best, biggest, busiest day of the week and they are suddenly closed...this is a huge bummer and a really bad business move, I'm sorry to say but this is just nonsense. And this just happened too, it wasn't planned or announced online or anywhere and a makeshift "closed" paper was put over the sunday on the window hours.
2.) They are now closed on Mondays...yeah, another fun one. 2 days of the week closed is just ridiculous...
3.) They wash the tables down with windex and paper towels...That is not standard health code, it's awkward and it doesn't do the job. Tables must be washed down with sanitizer water/ammonia water and a clean white rag, not blue windex and paper towels. Sorry to nitpick here but safety comes first, it's not safe or smart to pump windex mist all over the place in a busy dining room full of guests and open plates. Use sanitizer or the proper quaternary ammonia solution! This isn't a suggestion, it is health code!!!
The carne asada is still pretty delicious. OPEN ON SUNDAYS! What are you guys doing!?
