We bought Business class tickets to Athens last week. We arrived from out of town into Montreal to get on our flight at 18:00 hrs. First the flight was delayed due to a storm which dealyed loading the cargo... ok that's not their fault. Then we get onto the tarmac, and are told that the pilot finds that "the look-ahead radar required to see storms is not working and he will try to re-boot the system". This further delays the flight. Finally we are told that he can't fix it and we "have to return to the gate and get maintenance to fix it.". We are then told that another crew is coming in from Toronto to get us out by 1:00AM" this turns out to have been a bald-faced lie. It seem due to the storm canceling a lot of flights there is now no gate, so we are unloaded by ladders into vans taking us to the airport building. We arrive back around 1:00AM. We are in business class at $2000.00/ seat and in the 4 1/2 hours on the plane, they never fed us! Finally they tell everyone to go home and come back at 9:30AM ! Only when I buttonholed a manager did they offer us a voucher for a hotel room, and two measly vouchers for $15. for food good only at the airport.. Due to all these delays we missed the shuttle bus suposedly coming every 15 min. which took nearly 45 more to show up to get us to the cheap hotel they sent us to.
In the morning we were told by the desk person at the continental breakfast that its NOT INCLUDED in our hotel voucher.
All this cost us a whole day of a precious week in Greece; a full day's charges at a 5 star hotel, and a day of car rental.
Their offering is a voucher for some nebulous discount on a future flight. Sure... no doubt their discount price will be off their full fare tickets, and still more than I can buy those tickets online.. I am very unimpressed by Canada Rouge service and their idea of hospitality.
