I found out about Chaiya way back in February but never had a chance to go until July, since it was always scheduled for weekends when I was out of town. I've stopped by the last 2 months and can now say that it's the best place in town to get cheap, authentic Thai food! My favorites so far are the pad Thai, BBQ pork skewers, and Thai tea. Have yet to try the mango sticky rice everyone's been raving about...haven't seen it at the fairs I've been to. Hoping to be able to try it next time around!
The fair is staffed by the nicest volunteers that cook up homestyle eats to help raise money for the Chaiya monastery. Just make sure to show up early, otherwise the food will be all gone! That's what happened to me the first time I went. No bueno. So get there at 9 am or earlier to have your first pick at all the great food!
