| - This review is for JCPenny Portrait Studios. We went last Saturday for what we hoped would be nice baby pictures. Alas, cell phone pics these days are indeed better. Never again.
I mostly blame the photographer (Cathy) for this poor experience. Starting out, she did not explain or mention how the session fees worked at all. I only found out while paying that each extra person was $10. Seriously?! That totally would have changed the way we did this!
Her skills were majorly low and unprofessional. She waited for minutes for us to pose and did not take the picture until she was sure there was a shot. This is the mark of a bad photographer because so many moments could be missed. I really thought she would take more pictures but in the whole 10-15 minutes (um, really? That's it?!) she only took 18 pictures! Holy moly, that is not a lot of selection choice.
Also, there were only about 7 or 8 total backgrounds and she even limited our options from there. I chose a boring light blue background...not happy with that. She only allowed 2 outfit changes for my baby and did not offer any props, ribbons, bows or anything to make the scenes interesting.
She was also just terrible at getting my usually merry little baby to laugh. No smile, smirk, nada!
When it came time to choose pictures, boy was she upselling and pushing this egregious $250 package like, what? With only 18 sorely mediocre shots, you want me to buy triples of everything? I came in with this offer and she kept hiding the damn thing and not letting me see what options I could choose from it. I asked her so many times to explain the size options and pricing because she ONLY would talk about the canvas prints and collages. Jesus, woman, answer my questions and stop being a terrible salesperson about it. All the pictures with me in them looked TERRIBLE. She did not even remind me to tuck in stray strands or lean a certain way. My normally not-frizzy hair was so messy and ugly in those pictures! She had no eye for beauty as a supposed "artist."
For 3 pictures in the end, I ended up paying $65. And they won't even be sent to me. I have to drive another hour to this location and pick them up in 2-weeks time. Wow. No recommendation. Avoid this studio and pick any random photographer from Instagram. This is heinous and a joke.
