| - I had found a stray that had been on the street for a while , she had tire marks on her and wounds that were almost completely healed. She had a collar but no tags , and no microchip. I posted her on pets 911, pet finder , and craigslist, put flyers up in my neighborhood. After almost a week, I turned her into the county shelter. Hoping her owner would find her there. I turned her in 02/17 , I called daily to find out if she had been picked up and if not when she would be available for adoption. I was told Sunday 02/21 at 11am . I arrived early and was waiting to adopt her , her fee was going to be $75. When I asked about her I was told she had been taken by Halo and I needed to go to the otherside. I asked why that was , since I was told that it was notated I would be in to pick her up. I was told Halo has 1st pick of all dogs. So I preceded over to halo to adopt her filled out the form , met with her in the room she was so excited to see me. Then I was told her adoption fee was $225.00 , I was like are you frigging kidding me. I explained the circumstances of how she got there and that it was notated I would pick her up at 11 on Sunday. The woman shrugged her shoulders and said well thats the fee if you want her. So I paid the fee, felt like highway robbery. The dog was in heat so they could not send her home or spay her. I asked if she had been vaccinated they said yes and that they had treated her for kennel cough as well. She was healthy and had no cough when I turned her into the county. So I was able to finally pick her up on 02/28 , she had no ecollar on which I am surprised by since she had just been spayed . I asked about that and they said well she didn't seem to be bothering her stitches, she will be fine. I got her to my car and as soon as we got in she started sneezing and wheezing. I thought maybe cause the windows were down the air was hitting her funny. Nope she has Kennel Cough, I am taking her to my vet tomorrow. I called Halo today and the girl I spoke with said it is common that most of their rescues do go home with kennel cough but since they hadn't notated or noticed the symptoms that they would not provide antibiotics. I have to agree after reading other reviews here about Halo , they do take the animals that are small and cute and charge a fortune for. The did not verify any of my information , if I own or rent a home did not invest the time or energy to see if I was good fit or a good home for my pet. I will tell everyone I know about how shady they are and really just reselling dogs and cats. My suggestion is to adopt from the humane society, the fees are reasonable and medical care guaranteed.
