| - Heard great things about this place and in an area full of cute antique stores, we HAD to try it out and grab a coffee before exploring!
We were greeted as we walked through the door and shown to a table/given menus.
The atmosphere is really cool, there's a little study spot which people were making the most of near the bar, pretty tile, neon lights and a great open space. The tables are a little close together but as it wasn't too busy, we had space either side.
Israel was our server and he was very friendly and always came over with a smile. There were a LOT of options for coffee and they all looked so good it was hard to decide, but we went for the cortado and cortadito - mine the smaller one - and it was SO good!
The food menu was again, extensive and there was so much - too much even - to choose from. Thankfully they had a screen near the bar with images of all their dishes and drinks that it became easier when you could see it all. We went for the breakfast croissant and the arepa benny.
When they both came, the benny looked impressive and the croissant a little measly, especially with no little side salad or even garnish, but the croissant was delicious! They didn't skimp on the bacon and the orange sauce it came with was so good we asked for a little more! The benny on the other hand was disappointing! The poached egg was runny but when I broke into it, a whole lot of water came out and made everything a little soggy. There was a good amount of meat but it wasn't seasoned and as such, was pretty tasteless. The hollandaise also pretty tasteless. Such a shame because I was craving a benny before arriving but didn't care to finish this one.
M & F really seem to have their strengths along with the odd weakness, so I would try something else next time and either way, come back for the coffee!
