| - Went here last January, while visiting family and friends. Making reservations was very easy online, and I got an opportunity to ask for a few specific tracks we might want to sing. My mother loves hearing me sing "Take Your Mama" by The Scissor Sisters. A representative was quick to check the catalog and respond that, unfortunately, those picks were unavailable. No big deal, there is still a massive selection for a diverse group of preferences and generations.
A day later, I got another email letting me know that KBOX went and acquired those tracks for us! That is a small action that made a huge impression. When we arrived, I was the only one of ten guests in our group who was familiar with what to expect. The young man at the entrance walked people to the room, explained the setup, and took quick drink orders.
Slowly, the rest of the group got comfortable. My brother and I were the only ones brave enough to sing at first. That did NOT last long. I confess, we might have been a challenge for the staff. We all were drinking the same beer. So, as more and more bottles were ordered, it became harder and harder to determine which were who's. I pretty much grabbed whichever was closest. These are family and my best friends, we have the same cooties already.
One thing that I will say, is that KBOX is located in an old building, which I think was originally a house, and has been MANY things since. In my early 90's college days, I think I would get cheap haircuts here. If someone in your group is "a stomper," you feel it shake the whole structure! I started to feel embarrassed, but the staff was pleasant and unobtrusive to the very end. The bill for 3.5 hours and drinks came to about $600. Totally worth the fun we had, and very affordable after ten of us split the bill. We'll be back, hopefully a little less rambunctious.
