| - This business uses deceptive tactics to rip off their customers, even a repeat customer! Luckily, I caught the technician in not one but 3 lies about the service required for my A/C unit and avoided an unnecessary repair that would have been very costly. My A/C unit was freezing up once a week and I finally called Home Air since it appeared to be the same issue I had last summer. It was a leak and it also needed to be recharged with freon. However, this time the technician came out and took the cap off of the king valve and sprayed a liquid to create bubbles to show it was leaking. He also said that my A/C units were not state compliant and I would have to replace it for $6,000 or more. Then he said that the cost of freon for my unit tripled in price since last year. Lastly, he talked really fast when I asked him how much the king valve part cost. He said $5.50-$6.50 for them. I then replied oh that's not bad. Then he said it costs them $50-$60 and it would cost me $450 to have the king valve replaced with new freon. However, after speaking with a manager on the phone, he then says it would be $650! And that my a/c was gonna break any day. I told him I would call his office tomorrow and let them know what I wanted to do. So 3 lies I caught him telling me right there plus trying to sell me overpriced a/c units. I then spoke to the owner, Bill to complain about the technician. He apologized and said the work needed to be done, that my a/c unit was still in compliance and that I should not have been pressured into buying new a/c units. He then said name a price. I said $450 if I really needed the repairs. He said ok and would add a two year warranty and was going to send someone else out the next day. (I saw on another comment review that they don't honor the warranties that they say you have with them) Another lie! I made it clear that I would call the office to set up a time if I wanted the repair to be made. The next day, as I was on my way home from work, the same technician along with someone else, showed up late in the afternoon unannounced and told my roommate they were there to work on the a/c!!! I never called to authorize them to do anything!!!! The roommate told them to please stop working and leave because I wasn't there to give an ok to do anything!!! I really wonder what they would have done to the a/c unit had my roommate not alerted me!!! Then, I called another company that was recommended to me by friends and co-workers. As I was standing outside with him when he was working on the unit, he told me that the King valve was just fine, it didn't need to be replaced. The freon was ok as well. The "leak" was a simple gasket replacement. Plus the air flow was ok with the filters being brand new. The charge: $75. Great service, thorough work and honest evaluations were done!!! So it appears that Home Air was going to make a totally unneeded repair and rip me off for $650!!! This company is dishonest and cannot be trusted. Luckily, I know enough from experience not to believe what they were telling me then to get a 2nd opinion. But for them to try to rip me off as a repeat customer??? It made me sick! Never again! Avoid this company, they are shady liars!!!!
