| - I chose New Planet for my move from Phoenix to Austin because the company claimed "Independent Family-Owned Mover: We are a smaller company that dispatches its own trucks. We will not put your goods into a warehouse because our drivers have opted not to haul it. Our drivers, along with all of our movers, are direct employees of New Planet Moving & Storage. We are licensed, bonded & insured, and our guys are fully trained & certified to handle your goods. Background checks have been performed on all of our movers so that you can trust who gets sent into your home. Unlike owner operators, our drivers do not have the option to pick up labor off the street corner to save themselves money, and maybe endanger you, and your goods." This is definitely not true as the delivery driver was subcontracted and then he subcontracted with two other people, one of whom told me he had never heard of New Planet. There are so many problems with New Planet, I could go on for days. My biggest complaints:
*Not all of my items were delivered and I would have never known that if one of the subcontractors hadn't been kind enough to reach out to me and return the items. He said the driver told him I had already paid, so just throw it in the trash.
* Once my items were delivered and unwrapped, my couch has a slash down the side that wasn't there before, my nightstand is smashed on the side, my dresser is smashed in the front, two sets of shelves are broken and my boxes marked "FRAGILE" were delivered upside down so some items are broken.
*It's been a week since I first complained to management and I was told I would get a call back in the next few days. Never happened AND I was not sent information on how to make claims for my broken items.
*I asked for a reweigh at pick-up. I was told it would happen in Las Vegas. I called the office and they said it would happen at delivery. I asked the delivery driver and he said he didn't have the equipment. Basically I was held hostage to my original estimate, even though I overestimated on weight and did not bring a couple of the heavier items I had originally planned for. I was also hit with $250 in fees that were never mentioned during my original conversations with Lauren. I specifically stated the items I was taking and was told the movers would have blankets to cover items. No additional fees were mentioned.
I plan to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, as well as the Attorney General's offices in Arizona, Texas and Las Vegas once I have completed my inventory of all broken items. Do not use this unethical company for your move!!!!
