| - No one ever wants to go to the emergency vet.
It's always at some off-hour, and always involves some potentially critical situation that potentially exposes your momentary stupidity and probably can't wait. You quickly check your bank balance before heading down, because you know that the ordeal is most likely going to be very expensive and very uninsured. These are the times when human emotions run high.
I could not have been happier with the service I received at VETS on Kingston Road.
In the middle of the night we thought that our dog might have eaten chocolate. So we called. They answered the phone quickly, asked all the right questions and reassured us that it might be smart to come down.
Once there I figured that we were at their mercy. That they would run a bunch of tests, run up some bills and fool us with mumbo jumbo. Instead, they listened to my concerns. They asked informed questions, checked the dog out and then told us that it was all going to be ok and that our doggie would be just fine. They gave us the option for them to do more work, but advised us that we really didn't need it. I was there for a half an hour of their time.
Then, when I asked what the bill was, they said "Don't worry about it."
So cool.
I was particularly impressed with Dr. Mitelman, who took the time to answer all of my questions and showed both a real expertise in dealing with the situation along with an empathy for the circumstance.
Professional, courteous, understanding, honest and transparent. They were there when I needed them. And didn't make me feel like a person unworthy of owning a dog in the process. The best thing you could ask for in an emergency clinic.
I hope not to have to go back, but would without hesitation should the need arise.
