When people in Chicago diss on Cleveland I just tell them, "Well, Cleveland has a bar that is better than anything in Chicago," and namedrop La Cave Du Vin. I've been here twice and I've felt this both times. The bartenders are really easygoing even if it's slammed. They have tried a great many of the beers and wines, so they can recommend something for anyone's tastes. They also cellar some of their beers, so you can get some things that have been long since out of production. They also have a small menu for noshing on while you drink fancy beers or wines. We've had the olive and pine nuts and the bread with olive oil. Both are perfect little companions while enjoying a drink. Bottles are available as carryout for cheaper, but it's really nice to sit and enjoy the space. I love La Cave Du Vin!
P.S. Note that, by law, the bartenders have to be the ones to open your beer, so don't go grabbing one of out the cooler and opening it yourself.
