Savour has recently had a rebrand of sorts from a coffeehouse with a smattering of pastries and an interesting sandwich menu into a full fledged bakery cafe with an in-house patissier (from Nantes, France!) who, I discovered today, is outrageously talented. I ducked in during Lilac Fest for a superb espresso made with Fratello's dependable Godfather blend on a sleek black Slayer and an absolutely devastating ham and cheese croissant- it was stunning, with a decadent bechamel and perfectly baked; I should have picked up a whole bag.
I'm really excited about this development- Savour has always had potential but it needed to set itself apart from the excellent other offerings nearby. It has better coffee, by far, than Boulangerie (and I think possibly better bakery as well), and perhaps not as good coffee as the world-standard-bearing Phil and Sebastian but a much, much bigger stock of excellent sweet options now.
