| - I dropped in at Sonic Boom the other day to do a little browsing since I was next door having a coffee at Dark Horse Espresso (previously reviewed). Admittedly, I don't buy many records anymore these days, but I do still keep my eyes open for the few pieces that I am still looking for, and this is probably one of the better places remaining. The store is very large, with some records and a lot of other stuff upstairs, and then a huge basement filled with new and used records as well as cd's and dvd's. I don't recall ever asking for assistance, but there are always staff around helping other people, and they seem to know their stock fairly well.
The main floor, has other music related items, such as books and an assortment of turntables; there is also a clearance section with decent copies of used records for $3.49 up to about $10. The lower level has lots of new records at the usual prices, and lots of used items priced from $4.99 and up. There are also racks of cd's and a backroom of dvd movies and tv shows, but I am not sure what the prices are like, probably reasonable though. I think they also have a section of rock t-shirts downstairs. I didn't find the specific album that I thought they had recently, but I did pick-up a few from the clearance bins. Overall, probably the best selection remaining in Toronto, and everything seems to be in good condition.
