  • After a horrible experience at Bagel Cafe in Vegas, I can't even say how grateful I am to have stumbled on this place. I grew up in New York/Philly and have lived in Chicago so I've eaten some top-notch Jewish food and know the real deal when I see it. My standards are extremely high I admit. Even though it's 30 min from where I live, I would drive here 3x a week or more for the food. It's a little, unassuming hole in the wall by Trader Joe's that I've actually missed seeing before while in this shopping center. First glance at the menu I was a little surprised at the prices, but after eating there last night I totally get it. First off, the chicken matzoh ball soup is like grandma used to make. Not too salty but flavorful, I like their take on it with the small noodles, not egg noodles. A lot of white meat chicken floating around in it. The matzoh ball was the size of a small baseball, easily enough for 2 or 3 to share. Perfect density, not chewy but firm and well seasoned, unlike the swill that passes for soup at TBC. It was a trough sized bowl to boot, easily enough to make 2 meals out of by itself. My gf and I made the rookie mistake of ordering 2 sandwich platters. Omg I've never seen a triple-decker sandwich that size before at any Jewish deli. It's basically 2 sandwiches for the price of one, so any objections I may have had to the price was put to rest. It was awesome, good quality corned beef, turkey and swiss on marble rye. So good! We'll probably be sharing from here on out. The service was excellent, the opposite of what you normally get at TLC. We sat down and were acknowledged immediately, and I think Jacques was our server. Super friendly, he hooked us up with an extra matzoh ball when we left for no charge. This place knows what service is all about. Fortunately, they had lox/whitefish and all the trimmings to go in a little take-out nook in the corner of the restaurant. This is when it gets real for me - good nova lox and whitefish salad to take home and make my own sandwiches with is no joke - I take my Sunday brunches with good friends and better Jewish food very seriously. They knocked it out of the park! It's so hard to find whitefish salad that isn't too greasy or over-loaded with mayo - it's perfect. Creamy and super-delish. The chunk whitefish is just as good and the homemade nova lox cream cheese was superb. The prices are on par with any major city and well worth it to me. I normally spend lots of time and $ digging up every Jewish deli I can find when I move to a new place, Jewish food is pretty much a staple for me. I can say that my search is over, I don't need to go anywhere else. I would drive an hour to get here if I had to. They could compete in cities like Chicago or Philly with their food. The owner Michael was a great guy, I chatted with him for a few minutes before I left to thank him for the experience. I can't wait to go back and try the breakfast specials and especially the potato pancakes - if they are what I think they'll be I'll be a fan and customer for life. Kudos Weiss Deli!!
