Kung Fu Tea is a Taiwanese bubble tea chain that has made its return back to Toronto. The place has the exact same business model as Chatime-you can customize your sweetness and ice levels accordingly, and they offer both regular and large sized options for the exact same price points. They are even a member of the vicinity rewards program; allowing you to get a free drink for every 10 drinks that you buy!
The way they differ from other popular bbt chains is the method that they use to sweeten their drinks. Instead of using plain sugar, they actually add honey as their sweetener instead. Honey doesn't raise blood sugar levels as much as pure sucrose, so it might be considered a slightly better option for the health conscious crowd.
While their menu choices are not as extensive as Chatime's, they do offer plum juice drinks as a specialty. I tried the plum green tea drink and found it to be a very refreshing option for Iced tea. Pretty good if you're a fan of plums.
Overall, a very decent spot for bubble tea in Chinatown that is comparable to Chatime in my opinion.
