  • I have always liked Microsoft...Having been an avid user since Windows 3.1. It has been a company which has put out some not so good products (Vista, Windows for Workgroups) to some great ones (Windows XP, Windows 7, Xbox) Apple when they introduced their concepts of direct sales to customers via a store front was amazing, this is where Microsoft fell behind and the cult of Apple was born. Enter the Microsoft Store... The Microsoft store is the storefront and showcase of MS (Microsoft) ecosystem. Everything ranging from cellular phones, laptops, tablets, software, toys and their popular Xbox gaming systems. Although there are quite a number of locations in the United States there are only limited number in Canada and only 3 in the GTA area(Square One,Eaton Center, Yorkdale) hopefully on the success of these, more will follow. Many brands who support or install MS on their hardware are also represented (Dell, Toshiba, Lenovo) just to cite a few. The store is beautiful with bright colors and an awesome full store video wall, Xbox gaming stations and hands on displays. There is a ton of staff and they are all eager to help or answer any questions. My visit was to replace my Xbox One controller which had failed. Usually these things are about 60 bucks to replace, but when I had purchased the Xbox the sales associate up-sold me on the extended "Microsoft Complete" warranty for $40 dollars. Usually, I don't take the extra add on warranties because of all the horror stories I hear about consumers who opt in for such things and the hassles that they go through to get products replaced or repaired. I walked in fully expecting a discussion on how it broke or waiting weeks to get a replacement and me without a controller till it was fixed. Not the case at the MS store. I was greeted by one of the MS team members, explained my situation, showed my receipt. They said no problem and handed me a new controller. No questions asked...they also made sure everything else was working with my system and ensured that if any problem came up...just to bring it in and they will make it right. This is is the way IMHO that issues should be addressed in retail. The MS store also offers many free services in house. Free Virus removal and check up (why spend $50 bucks at another place) Free Wifi, Free setup and instruction of use of any of their products or even non MS products as well (i.e if your having issues with MS office for OSX or android). If your looking for a MS based system or wanting to try out the new Xbox One or just had a question about a new tablet. Drop by the MS store at Square One and they will take care of you. #greatservice #xboxone @MicrosoftStore
