I've been to ice cream shops that make your ice cream on the spot before, but I've never seen one that specializes in the anti-griddle! I always thought that stuff was limited to fancy restaurants and Cutthroat Kitchen.
It's the middle of their grand opening, so prices were slightly discounted at $6. They start with your liquid ice cream base and pour it on the anti-griddle. It's exactly what it sounds like - a really cold surface. As they sculpt it and it takes shape, eventually they can roll 'em up into maybe 6 rolls, which they then lay on all the toppings.
I opted for Romantic Bangkok - Thai Tea ice cream, Chocolate Wafer, and condensed milk. I actually really liked the ice cream - not overly sweet, and the perfect amount softness for your spoon yet as hard as something that had been frozen for hours.
This shop wins for both having both a new concept to AZ and tasting better than just a gimmick.
