  • The Queen West area was in desperate need for a more upscale but unpretentious bar. Cue the arrival of Hotel Ocho. I've been here a few times friends birthdays and on a recent visit was surprised to find that pints of Rolling Rock were a very affordable $5.50. I really like Ocho, the drinks are good, service is good too. It also doubles as an event space, I went to a Yelp party there and found that even though it was an open bar event, the service was not compromised. It's the perfect backdrop for any event. Ocho also has a small but decent menu. Their brunch is a bit pricey, but on par with Queen West prices. It's really really delicious. They are open during the day on weekdays and are a perfect spot for meetings. At night it's a perfect date spot, with cozy couches and dark corners. My only issue is the weird bathrooms. I get that as a design element they are tucked away, but it creeps me out. Hence the 4/5 stars.
