I have so many wonderful memories of Black Creek Pioneer Village. I went on many school and family trips to this heritage park where you step back in time and experience the lifestyles of early Canadian settlers. There's a small village with a town hall, doctor's office, mercantile and candy stores, blacksmith, candle maker, church and typical homes of the time. We would learn to set bee's wax, bake bread, and got to shop in the candy store where we'd always get these sweet sticks of candy in every possible flavour. I loved root beer. As a family, we'd come here and attend their giant community corn roasts at harvest time. When we had an international exchange student living with us we took her here to give her a sense of Canada's pioneer history. I SO wanted to be Laura from Little House on the Prairie and this place gave me the background story for my playtime imaginings.
