| - Having grown up in Westlake just a mile down the road, the city sure has changed a lot in the last 20 years. I worked for the City of Westlake as a summer intern in the Engineering department before any construction for Crocker Park even began.
Now on to the present day...Crocker is a great place for shopping, date night, dining, catching a movie, or simply walking or people watching. It's essentially and outdoor mall.
There's a good number of chain restaurants like The Cheesecake Factory, Bar Louie, Brio, Hyde Park, Menchies, Aladdin's, and Chipotle. They also have a B Spot, a local burger chain and Vieng's Asian Bistro for your sushi, pho, Thai, or Chinese fix.
The stores are pretty much what you'd find in a regular mall...Dick's Sporting Goods, Gap, Banana Republic, Victoria's Secret, American Eagle, H&M, DSW, Bath & Body Works, Barnes & Noble, etc. There's an Apple Store too. Check crockerpark.com for the full list of stores and restaurants.
The Regal Cinema there is pretty nice and they have an IMAX. It does get a bit pricey, but it's understandable given the area. Tuesdays are $5.50 movies days! (new releases excluded)
They have fireworks here for the 4th of July along with live music during the summer. They have a nice tree lighting ceremony for Christmas time.
A lot of people hate on Crocker Park, but I enjoy it. It's nice to see how much my hometown has grown up since I was a mere lad. Stop by and check it out.
