Had dinner at Duke of York Monday. 5 for dinner and ended up here quite by accident. We were a?l pleasantly surprised. We were to meet at Bedford Academy (across the street) where I had previously dined and enjoyed a meal on March 29th. The dining room was empty but the waitress refused to seat us in the front dining room and was very dismissive. The back had a table with carpentry tools and another 40 or so glasses stacked. We left. On to Duke of York and a smiling and very welcoming waitress looked after us and setved up a pleasant meal. I look forward to returning and exploring their fine pub food menu. I dine out with friends and family often and don't mind spending money to enjoy a fun dinner. It's a pub with grub and gr8 outdoor space. It's not pomp and circumstance. ( Humor) I will return because Danica made us feel welcome. Restaurateurs should note that first impressions are important and so are repeat clientele.
