| - I had an appointment here in the evening for the first time and had Hiro as my hair stylist. We went over what I wanted to do with my hair and he was very helpful since I didn't know the specifics of what I wanted except that I wanted my dry ends cut off and keep my bangs grown out. We decided that I wouldn't get the dry part completely cut off, since that would leave my hair at an awkward shoulder length, and instead he'd cut off the worst parts and suggested I get a trim again in a couple of months when it's grown out more.
I've been to other places for a trim where the hairdresser just goes off sort of doing their own thing, and in the end I get hair I'm satisfied with, but they've styled it in a way that's not totally 'me', but Hiro was attentive from the start. We looked at some not-so-different hair styles in the magazines to work out exactly what I did and didn't want.
Also, when he found out I study Japanese, he carried out the majority of the rest of the appointment with me in Japanese, despite my tiredness and awkward replies, which I appreciated!
I got my hair washed between the trim and the styling. The scalp massage was indeed quite good, and during styling, Hiro recommended hair oils for me to use for my dry hair.
Even though I seemed to be one of the last appointments of the day, it didn't feel rushed and was overall a very good experience. When I left Hiro gave me his card with a little reminder to come in for a trim in two months. Feels nice when the health of your hair is being considered as if you were at a doctor!
