| - I honestly don't understand the rave reviews for this place. Makes me think all these folks have never been to a good spinning class. I've had much better at university gyms, YMCA's and at Flywheel.
Here's what's good:
The restrooms/showers are nice and clean.
The location is great (which makes me especially sad that it's taken up by such a mediocre workout... imagine if a great spinning class were held here!)
The not-so-good:
Classes are gimmicky and not a great workout. I feel like people come to shout and feel excited about their workout, which is great, but the actual exercises don't seem very grounded in science, so to speak. In one class, an instructor got off and banged loudly on a drum?!? What the heck was that good for, other than make us deaf?
The sound is off, so the music is loud and instructors are hard to hear (I've only been twice, couldn't hear either time)
There are no measuring devices on the bikes -- so distance, speed, power, wattage, none of that gets recorded or shows up for you to get a sense of how you are doing. I find that pretty weak in this day and age. It also means that the classes can't be based on RPMs or anything like that.
The bikes are too close together -- I tried to just bike while the (gimmicky) arm segment was on, and the women in front of me came yay close to elbowing me in the face
The arm segment is pretty poorly designed, I think -- pushups on the bike? The little sacks are too light to do anything.
Overall, this feels like a really poor college-student rip-off on FlyWheel (the website is also incredibly similar to that company (with which I am in no way affiliated).
