To sum up the review - I don't hate Eight.
We decided to try a new sushi place before going out in the NC music factory and we were underwhelmed at the experience.
First, the waitstaff tried to seat the four of us at a table reserved for a party of six, which created a moment of awkwardness. We were re-seated at a rather uncomfortable and shaky high-top table and were able to quickly order our drinks. My cocktail was delicious and strong and they had a decent beer selection, but they probably could have gotten more drinks out of us if the wait staff came around a bit more. Our waiter was MIA for most of the meal and they brought the order for the couple we were with an uncomfortable amount of time before they brought ours. Additionally the table was pretty small even though it was two couples splitting two plates with drinks so it wasn't like we were trying to fit a lot of food on the table.
We started with the calamari which wasn't too greasy and had two yummy options for dipping sauce. I ordered the Godzilla's wrath roll, which I was ultimately disappointed with. I like spicy tuna, but this roll had far too strong of a jalapeno taste and if I had known it came with diny diced jalapeno I probably would have ordered something else. My boyfriend ordered the sea to shore roll which was average, and we split a spicy tuna roll.
Overall the meal was okay, the service was okay and the drinks were good. We would return if we wanted sushi in the NC music factory but wouldn't go out of our way to come here again.
