| - I have been battling algae and cloudiness in my pool for almost a month. I have read all kinds of information online, poured who knows how many gallons of chlorine into my pool, spent hours brushing, vacuuming, backwashing, etc.
When I was recommended to go to B&L pool supply, I was a bit suspect at first having been in Leslie's recently with not a great experience. Long story short my pool is sparkling clean and clear, and looks the best it has in years after two days.
I don't remember his name, but the man who helped me immediately tested my water and gave me a sheet breaking down all of the measurements. He also took the time to explain everything. He explained very clearly why the chlorine they sell is better but did not pressure me to buy anything. I checked the chlorine I purchased from Costco at home and available percent chlorine was less than half of what I purchased for not much more money at B & L.
$70 later, I had a bottle of algicide and box of chlorine shock, and instructions to perform ABC. Algicide, then brush, then Chlorine. I'm excited to have my pool back and a reliable store for pool products with knowledgeable staff.
While it may be true that some of the equipment is more expensive than online, just do your homework and then decide if it makes sense. It's worth a few extra bucks to support a local business and get help from knowledge people. And the chemicals I bought were not any more expensive than competitors.
