I lived here for a year and a half until November 2017, after moving from Green Leaf Promontory Pointe apartments on 7th St. and Peoria, where I was for 2.5 years.
Pros
1. Cheap rent
2. Close to freeway
3. Laminate instead of carpet in living areas.
4. Common areas are well maintained.
Cons
1. Revolving office staff, less and less friendly, helpful or competent as time went on.
2. There are ticks and spiders. Check your pets regularly. I never saw a scorpion like many others had until moving out. There were 3 dead scorpions under the fridge.
3. Lost mail/packages and no ID verification. Virtually anyone could pick up a package from the office as long as they cited an apartment that had one waiting.
4. Multiple changes to payment methods and no option to pay in advance of the 1st, which can be inconvenient when traveling.
5. As a resident, you are the lowest priority when answering the phone and being acknowledged in the office. Touring prospective residents and signing leases is the top priority. (Tip: To have your call answered, select the option of interested in leasing in order to have your call answered.)
6. Maintenance does not leave notes about entering your apartment for repairs or notify you when repairs will be done.
7. Pool hours are not enforced. The pool is in use until midnight or later on summer weekdays. Security is no help. They do not answer the number provided by the office and can be seen fraternizing with the people at the pool. If your unit is close to the pool, you will hear everything.
8. Never received the final bill after moving out. Started receiving collections calls less than a month after. Granite Bay was unwilling to help in the matter and simply stated accounts are sent to collections after 21 days, without notice of doing so. Be very careful when moving out and don't assume they will send the bill like other complexes.
