  • Living here a year and a half we finally took a trip to Floyd Park - and it's only 8 minutes away! First off, we went on a Tuesday, after dinner, for a walk. Not crowded at all. Lots of ducks/geese/peacocks/birds. I read someone's review about bird poop everywhere - not sure where that reviewer was walking but we experienced barely any? Maybe it was the time of year? Spring with the new ducklings might create more? But we did a two mile walk around the path and it was beautiful! Trees, water - you don't think you are in Vegas. A great little escape. I love that they charge at the gate ($6.00 per car) - so you don't get riff/raff and it's not crowded. They also give you a huge garbage bag for all your garbage if eating at the park. Very good idea, simple for people to clean up. I'd never attempt this park on a weekend - because it is small and it is lovely - so it would be packed! Early morning or after dinner for the most quiet times.) I did notice some families with their dogs off the leash - which is a no/no, but the dogs were well behaved. I do think a park patrolman should walk the park - if you are paying a fee to get in, then every guest should feel safe, bathrooms, I would expect to be clean, garbage cans should be emptied, any garbage laying around should be picked up, dogs should be leashed, ALL paths should be clean and everyone should obey the rules of the park. I noticed some of the ponds were murky, dirty - again if we are paying a fee, maintenance should be at its best. We got a yearly pass and a great bargain because we will use the park at least twice a week. I saw bathrooms in a few locations (did not see the insides), you can rent the larger BBQ/eating areas, some covered - most shaded from trees - we didn't tour the historic part as our priority was a walking track. Saw several families getting portraits taken - great location for that. Several people were fishing, had coolers and eating dinner - very quiet, just lovely. 5 stars for quiet, great walking path, ambiance, easy parking.
