  • Awful, horrific event as others have noted. We stayed at the Wynn hotel (one of the designated race event hotels). We were told at the Expo and by Wynn hotel staff that shuttles would transport runners to the start from 2-6pm. We went to catch shuttle for the 1/2marathon at 4pm. There was no one from the hotel or race staff coordinating this area. There were very few shuttles that ever showed between 4 and 5 pm. There were many runners still waiting until about 5:30 when people started to leave the lines suspecting no more shuttles and possibility of not reaching the start. We left the hotel on foot to run/walk to over 3miles to the Mandalay at 5:30pm. As we reached the Mandalay and the actual start region, clearly there were no runners in sight. An observer yelled to hurry as members of the race staff were removing the electronic strip which would record our official start. We yelled to the staff to stop and were able to run over one of the few remaining strips. Yes, we had to run with our race bags also. It was about 3/4 mile or so before we reached the back of the pack. I agree with many of the remaining negative comments. I found shocking however that there was no cytomax to be found after about mile 4or 5. I kept asking and was told only water. Because I had hydrated with water appropriately prior to race start, I did not drink the water. Many portions of the race felt deserted. We finished with decent times (received medal)considering all that occurred. However the finish was truly horrifying. I have never seen so many ill runners. Many issues have been highlighted by previous runners. As someone walking behind us stated, it felt like being in a fallout shelter after a nuclear disaster. It took us about 2hours to get back to the Wynn as there were no shuttles or cabs. We had to cut through the casinos, take trams and metro train. We felt as though we ran for survival and were lucky. We ran into runners the day after who never made it to the start due to lack of shuttles. Will avoid all future Rock n Roll events.
