| - Whenever I stay in Vegas, I stay at The Venetian. The Grand Canal Shoppes is one of the reasons I enjoy staying here. Connected to the Shoppes at Palazzo, the two areas are similar, but very different.
The major difference, obviously, is the Canal itself. Gondolas float down the canal, while the pilots sing classical Italian opera tunes. The storefronts have a very Venice street feel to them, and the ceiling is painted to resemble a clear blue sky. Very impressive atmosphere.
The majority of the stores are high end, with prices to match. The selection is very impressive, lots of different types of stores and clothing styles. There are also many restaurants spread throughout, offering the option to spend an entire afternoon while cruising the canal area.
Be prepared for lots of children walking the area, which is something you won't find at the Shoppes at Palazzo. Other than that, it's a very enjoyable and relaxing experience, and something everyone should check out at least once during a trip to Vegas.
