  • Legion is one of my top four favorite breweries in Charlotte, with Free Range, Birdsong and NoDa rounding out the top billing. Their commitment to making a variety of interesting beers, building community through fitness events and live music, and just having friendly service all contribute to making this place a standout. They have water on tap that you pour yourself, so you never have to worry about being dehydrated. Advanced glasswear to serve their beers allows for ideal presentation, both for your taste buds and Instagram feed. While diagonal on-street parking and the lower side lot provide limited spaces, walking a few blocks isn't going to hurt you and allows one to take in the rest of the personality that Plaza Midwood had to offer. The only thing that would make this place better is more space, as they are rightfully popular, even when just opening on a Friday afternoon. Juicy Jay is a fan favorite, but I also enjoyed their table beer offering and a recent dark cherry sour was just right for a warm February afternoon. Definitely a magnet for the young, hip crowd, but a much more relaxed experience than Sycamore in South End or the expansive space of Olde Meck.
