| - At first, I was very happy to find Aroma. They used the good wax that is more effective, and less painful for Brazilians then your average place, and they had excellent prices. The places was clean, and the staff was friendly. Seemed like a great fit!
Unfortunately, I never had a wonderful service there, and the last time I went was the final straw.
The first time seemed fine. I had a Brazilian and a lower leg wax. The waxer worked VERY quickly. When I got home I noticed that there were several small patches on the brazilian area that had been missed, and I just plucked those areas myself (annoying and awkward, but whatever) and went on with my day. The leg wax was a total write off, as all the hairs had been broken off, so I just had to shave them. I made a point to remind myself to double-check the brazilian work before leaving the salon the next time, and not bother with the leg wax.
The next time, the waxer again (same one) was extremely fast, but I checked the areas that had been missed the first time, and was satisfied - but got home to find several more patches that were in harder areas for me to get to, so unfortunately I had to shave them resulting in the itchy, pokey irritation which is the whole reason I went for waxing anyway.
I admit that that should have been the last visit, but the prices were too good, and like a fool I trotted back in, knowing I'd likely have some touch-ups to do at home. This time, the waxer seemed extremely frazzled and told me that management was double-booking her because she can work so quickly - so instead of giving her one person every 15 minutes, they were scheduling her one person every 8. As she's letting me know this, she's going to work in record time. I noticed the first pull hurt more than usual, but on the second pull I knew something was wrong and looked down...to see that she had taken off MUCH more than I had wanted, or ever had her done before. It was more than I've ever had taken off in my LIFE.
I'm not a prude - it looks great on other people. But I am extremely uncomfortable when there is too much off, and she left me with nothing. I was horrified.
She realized what she'd done and started apologizing. In a way, I felt sorry for her, because she was clearly exhausted from management grossly over-scheduling her. But I was left VERY uncomfortable with my body. She was saying "I'm so sorry - but you know, most men really like it like this." Believe it or not, I don't get this done for men, I get it done to help me feel as good as possible about my own body. And I was left feeling humiliated and VERY unhappy with my appearance.
And yes, I know it's hair and it grows back, but without going into details - this made things very difficult for me as it has triggered some severe body issues that I battle, and will continue to do so since my hair grows back extremely slowly. Also, I am in the middle of having laser hair removal in the area, and now the guidelines that they have been using over the past few months are gone - so I cannot continue those treatments now for several months. This is beyond frustrating.
Bottom line - you get what you pay for.
Don't go to Aroma and expect the same level of service you get from other brazilian-specialist chains in town that are priced slightly higher. Aroma management will take advantage of their staff, and push them to the point where they make mistakes, and ruin your groom. AVOID!
