| - I'm SO happy I can write this review now because I'm finally moving out, & can say this without the office staff being snarky & SO beyond rude. I'll start from the beginning!
So my boyfriend & I leased a 1 bedroom apartment because we moved here for school. Granted this is not student living, but since I got accepted into UNCC so late, this was our only hope. The woman that worked with us was at first was so nice & helpful. I do really like her a lot. The other workers? No. Not at all. We first moved in, & we saw so many things wrong with the apartment. There was a wasp nest on our balcony, our lock on the balcony door didn't work, our sink leaked in the kitchen & bathroom, our cabinet below the sink was drooping because of a bad screw. We called in maintenance to fix it, of which they did for the day, but then the cabinet broke again, & the sink kept leaking.
A few months pass by & everything is calm & what not. Keep in mind this is mine & my boyfriend's first time renting an apartment ever, so you'd think we'd get some slack, but no. We got hit with an extra 20 days added onto our lease because of a stupid law there is you have to sign when your lease is coming to an end. When your lease is coming to an end, you'd think the tenant would be moving out...? We had no idea about this law because no one disclosed it to us. We also got hit with an extra 700 dollars to pay as well, which we used our security deposit to pay for because broke college students. The manager gave us the go ahead to use it & said she'd come through our apartment to check & make sure there's no severe damage. The manager never came by to check. My boyfriend then went up to the leasing office to ask if it was still okay & he talked to another lady, & she was not having it with using the security deposit. So she said she'd call him later, he never received a call, & he had to call them. She said it was okay & we only had to pay 36 dollars I think to pay for the extra 20 days, but while he was dropping off the money order, the lady that sits in the first desk was super rude to him while he dropped it off. I guess because we found a way to get out of it & they're not getting the money they wanted. We signed the paper as well, but then a few days later we get a note in the door saying we still owed them 600 dollars. Uh yeah no. We're not paying that. We just threw away that paper as we were packing. As we were moving out, they also tried to sneak in a 28 dollar late fee to add onto our final bill. We called them, & got rid of it. So ALWAYS check your bill with them.
Now onto the complex itself since I ranted on how much I hate the staff. It's a really shaded in area which is both good & bad. It looks gorgeous, but I get so much bird poop & pollen on my car. There's multiple car break in's that occur. There's a lot of gun fire that happens in the complex. I even heard gun shots below us at 3AM which scared the ABSOLUTE crap out of me & my boyfriend, and there's been even more than the one right below us. I even had a man walking past our door, & what he looked like to be holding a gun, & I was by myself that morning. We had to keep multiple weapons in the apartment because we knew we weren't in a safe environment. Which would maybe be fixed if they actually had working gates of which we paid for. The pool is super nice unless you want to have a relaxing day because people throw parties there which you'd think it's for only residents & not a family pool party. The gym is a joke & so outdated that it hurts. I'm a normal gym goer, & when I saw the gym I just laughed. There's dog crap all over the apartment complex. We constantly had pests getting into our trash that we sat outside for the valet trash. There's chipped paint on the walls even in when you first move in & also paint in the carpets. They use eggshell paint on the walls which easily gets removed if you wash it, & it looks tacky once it even gets hardly knocked into because the paint comes off so easily, but NO WORRIES, they paint over it after every resident that stays there. The stairs to get up the apartment are very outdated & need an update. I fell down the stairs one day while it was raining & absolutely busted my butt & left a huge bruise & had back pain from it all day. Imagine if an elderly woman went down those or a kid. They'd be much more injured than I was.
Overall, this apartment complex is money hungry, rude, & does the absolute bare minimum to keep their customers "happy" of which write their checks. If you want your money taken every which way, pests everywhere (which you also pay for pest control that doesn't work either), rude staff, cheap apartments at a high rate, this is your place. Look no further because you found it.
