My family has spent several Christmases at Copperwynd and have rated it 5-stars in the past. The most recent visit, however, was starkly different than previous visits. While Alchemy and the Wine Bar continued to be excellent, the resort itself seems like it's being run differently. There didn't seem to be that friendliness, efficiency, and attention to detail that we noticed on previous visits. For example, we had to call the front desk to have our rooms cleaned. Our rooms were missing basic items. On the last two days, the resort was without hot water and the communication to hotel guests was lacking. Lastly, this resort is a popular wedding destination for obvious reasons: the views are lovely. However, this shouldn't be to the detriment of resort guests--e.g. guests being told to vacate the bistro or the verandas.
We may look for another destination spot for next year and we will be watching these Yelp reviews carefully to see if anything changes--hopefully for the better. It would be a shame if this resort goes downhill due to poor management. We've always felt it was a diamond in the rough, till this last visit.
