| - Stollery's is now closing, and this does not surprise me. I was in search of a Barbour jacket last fall, and had researched Toronto locations that carried the brand when I came across Stollery's. The reviews many had written here on Yelp were worrying; it seemed that customer service ranged from complete disinterest to pushy sales pitches, and selection wasn't that great. But I decided to give it a chance anyways, as I wanted to at least try on the jackets for sizing reference.
Walking into the store was like taking a trip down history, and not in a good way. The window displays were severely outdated, the selection of menswear was displayed poorly and looked almost tacky. But I could have overlooked these flaws had I been treated with even the slightest bit of respect.
There is no other way to say this other than the service is truly dismal, and frankly, offensive. I am a young, Asian female, and I was treated like a second-class citizen. No one else was in the store when I walked in and yet the idling staff could not even give me the time of day. I had to approach someone to locate the Barbour jackets, which were in some obscure corner. The salesperson tried to help me with my request, but she seemed unenthused and confused. No knowledge on clothing or service. They were lacking in sizing and styles as well. Walked out without purchasing anything.
I am glad to see this store to go: Stollery's is not only old-fashioned in looks and selection of products, but also in attitude.
