I went to the Hoover Dam for the second time this weekend after not having visited here in over 20 years. Surprisingly, a few things have changed. There appears to be a new bridge overlooking the dam, and also a new parking lot with a concession stand and gift shop. I wanted to know what else about the dam has changed over the years so my friend and I took one of the dam tours. We wanted to go on the longer tour, but found out that we would have to wait for 2 hours for the next one. It was about 106 degrees outside, so we didn't want to hang around for that long. We instead opted for the shorter "Power Plant" tour that was just about to start. The tour cost $11 dollars and consisted of watching an informative video about the dam, and then taking an elevator to two locations where the guide provided more historical details. It was a pretty uneventful tour, and we didn't get to see all that much. I did enjoy getting to walk through the inside of the dam, but I wish the tour would have been of more substance. The next time I go to the dam I will be sure to spend the $30 and get the more complete tour. The Power Plant tour left a lot to be desired.
