| - Wanted to go someplace nice for my birthday. I'd been to brunch here so figured, as an Italian place, it would be good. Unfortunately, it wasn't. First, I don't eat cream and literally every pasta except one has cream in it. Even the spaghetti bolognese. Usually, there are plenty of things I can eat on an Italian menu but not here. The server, who was very nice, recommended I get the boucatini without the ricotta cheese on it. So I did. It was a bad suggestion and I doubt he'd ever tried it without the cheese. Really bland. I told him it needed something and ordered a side of shrimp. It turned out that two shrimp were $14. The shrimp were good, but still, overall, really disappointing. My fiance got the scallop risotto which was good, but he agreed he'd had better. The bread they give you at the beginning was excellent though and we had the orzo meatballs for our appetizer which were also really good. For the price you pay, you're better off going to one of the many great steakhouses like BLT across the street or Mastro's a block down. Lastly, they did nothing for my birthday at all even though the hostess asked if it was my birthday when we checked in and we heard her tell the server it was. So that was a bummer. And then the next day I got a message from OpenTable (I'd made the reservation through them) that we had skipped out on the reservation. So I guess the hostesses (all four them???) forgot to check us in even though she had to have seen the reservation to know it was my birthday. Anyway, you don't have to spend a lot to get great food, but when we do spend a lot, we expect something much better than this. We will most certainly not be back. Too many other good restaurants on the strip to waste time and money at Giada again.
