  • People seem to rip on USAir because it's a cheap, no frills airline. That's exactly what I like about them. To quote the great Dennis Green : "They are who we thought they were!". I choose USAir for my flights to PHX mainly due to the on-time performance. In 5 trips, none of the planes have been more than 10 minutes late. Compare that to United, which ran 1 and 2 hours late, respectively. Sure, they offer absolutely no in flight amenities, but it's a short flight and I've got an iPad so who cares? The A320 family of planes are more comfortable than the 737s, and sometimes I get lucky and end up a 757 with empty seats. As for the flight attendants, no, they are not the smiling beauties you see on Virgin, but I've always consider them to be fair. One time, a guy was trying to jam a bag in an overhead bin and a flight attendant strutted up telling him it wouldn't fit there due to the fire extinguisher. He got it in, and she just said "well, whuddayaknow, it fit" and proceeded to other duties. Had this happen on Alaska Airlines, I'm sure she would have given him a 5-minute lecture and if he talked back, she would have probably called the police. Oh, and USAir got me from Vegas to PHX for $50. Suck on that, Southwest.
