| - 2.5 stars for atmosphere
3.5 stars for service
5 stars for the food!
The decor is nice, but it's a cavernous open space full of hard surfaces. Out for an intimate dinner, or looking to converse comfortably with friends? Not here. The background noise levels are incredible. When there's a rare lull in the racket, you realize they have music playing at a reasonably loud level - but you'll seldom hear it.
Cibo seems to be made for the see-and-be-seen club crowd out for the evening. It's very popular, and very packed. So much so that they ran out of house wine this evening.
There's plenty of servers, and they're friendly and competent - but they're busy.
The food, however, is well worth checking out. We were delighted with the scodellina (chicken livers, gorgonzola, and golden beets), and the lamb meatballs app was perfect (except for the timing - it arrived with our mains). The focaccia bread was oddly fluffy, but very flavorful.
When the mains arrived, we realized we'd ordered too much food. We had the pappardelle, which was good, but not quite of the five-star level of everything else. And lastly, their pear pizza.
Always order the pear pizza. It is an event. It is a party in your mouth. It is an appetizer and main and desert all-in-one.
When, not if, I go back, I'll try to make it early to see if the noise is less imposing and whether the house wine actually exists. I'll order a selection of apps and skip the pasta. And I'll have the pear pizza.
