The negligence of Dr. James Prueter led to my dogs death. I was in on Friday and he examined my dog. I told him the dog had swallowed a hoof and hasn't eaten or drank in three days. He also wasn't able to poop. I wanted to get X-rays to spot the foreign object but he talked me out of them. Instead he gave an anti-nausea shot and sent us home with a bottle of pills. He said IF he puked one more time, we would know he had something lodged. My dog never puked.
The next day (Saturday) we took him in for xrays against the vets recommendation. After paying an extra $95 to have a specialist read it, they still couldn't be certain there was an object. My dog went in for surgery and died on the operating table. The hoof was found in his intestine. I was told after the fact the X-rays wouldn't really show much. So why did I get X-rays when an ultrasound WOULD HAVE clearly shown an object. Dr. Prueter responded that they don't have ultrasound capabilities every day.
If I were the vet I would have sent me to another office and or emergency vet to get the ultrasound to begin with. I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to go to this vet. He was rude and condescending. I know I can't get my dog back but I can spread the word and keep people from going to this vet and making the same mistake I did.
