| - I opened a checking account with USAA and was offered free checks. I paid $26 for 2 day shipping and the checks arrived in five days. I understand that is a problem with Harlan Clark the check provider, or the delivery service,so I did not make that an issue with USAA. However, the checks USAA provided did not have a carbon copy backing. I have never seen a check without carbon copy backing, so I did not know that I should ask USAA whether they provided carbon copy backing for their checks. I called USAA and they said that carbon copy backing costs $20. Okay, then, I said that I think they should tell their customer service people to explain that their free checks do not have carbon copy backing, and I would like them to waive the fee because they did not provide adequate information to me.
So, I went up three levels in their complaint resolution process. They kept telling me they heard me, but said no to my request at every level. The last person I spoke to was Anders, Senior Advisor, Management Team. When I asked to speak to his supervisor, Carra, he said it would make no difference - she would tell me the same thing. He even suggested that i go get checks at Costco.
I was surprised that USAA would have absolutely no interest in repairing relationships with a thirty year customer. It was an issue of principle. If their customer service team made the error of not providing sufficient information about the checks, then USAA should provide a remedy.
I was on the phone for 35 wasted minutes. i do not usually write reviews or complain, but this would have been so simple to remedy. They treated me as if they could care less.
