| - Coworker recommended this place to me. Turned out to be a very rare homerun here in Phoenix. Most restaurants inevitably disappoint, but this place was mega solid.
Service is really great. Nancy was our server and she is a true pro. Very nice change of pace to have an attentive and efficient waitress. This place runs like clockwork.
Food was outstanding, and came out at just the right pace.
I love chicken fried steak, but I rarely order it because it never stacks up to the old Stroud's in Kansas City. Texaz does a very solid CFS. Giant, dinosaur sized piece of meat, cooked perfectly, just slightly under-seasoned, but overall awesome. I ate the entire thing, and I'm well under 200lbs. Coleslaw was near perfect, too.
My girlfriend had their ribeye. Cooked as ordered, very tasty. Her mashed potatoes were spot on. She was happy, and our dogs loved the connective tissue we brought home.
Beer list is a little thin, but that's not why you would come here. Decor is cool; definitely reminds me of a lot of the hole-in-the-wall places I've eaten at in mid-sized Midwest cities.
Pricing is good, but parking is shit. It's always busy for a reason, though. We came around 8p on a Tuesday, so luckily there was some parking and no waiting. If you come here during happy hour, best of luck!
Highly recommended.
