| - Lake Norman finally has an answer to that proverbial question "Who let the dogs out?"
Lucky Dog Bark & Brew did, at least as of last week when they celebrated their final inspection and opened the doors to Facebook fans that were eagerly awaiting this place for months.
Last Friday my wife and I took our cocker spaniel Hunter to check out his new favorite 18 and up "doggy exclusive" neighborhood bar located where Kylie's use to be off US-21, closest to exit 28.
The inside of the place has been essentially cut in half, the left half is the main area which is for "leashed" dogs. It contains a large bar surrounded by big screen TVs, additional tables nearby, and some couches by the Jukebox. The right side is completely open for "unleashed" dog romping action and also includes water stations and picnic tables scattered throughout. Pick up a beer on tap, bottle, or a glass of wine and hang out on either side while your pooch runs wild with potential playmates. There is also an outside area that will be very nice as the weather cools off this Fall. This is also an "unleashed" zone, and provides additional seating and plenty of outside room for patrons and pups.
Membership for your furry friend is only $10 and half of that goes to the Cornelius Animal Shelter. That's a pretty small fee to know your dog has his very own Cheer's where at least the owner's know his name. They also offer doggie day care and grooming services on top of the bar experience.
We ended the night with some grub from the Juan Taco food truck outside, she was neither Mexican nor had a mustache, but she knew how to make delicious quesadillas so we grabbed her card and hope to see her outside this bar next time.
It's just the beginning for Lucky Dog Bark & Brew, but with themed nights planned, the support of local canine rescue groups and dog lovers alike, we are looking forward to seeing what the future holds for our best friend's newest watering hole!
