| - Started out promising and ended in catastrophe. We were told to expect after care for major surgery on my partner's sick 75 yr old dad, for 3-5 days, but likely more than less. Okay, good, he'll be in good care I thought, after staff's great service initially.
We were called at 7 pm on Friday evening after his 2 pm surgery on Wednesday, that he would be released at 9pm and must be picked up. He was in no way shape or form ready for release. After just arriving home, the hospital called to inform us that they forgot a piece of equipment on him (WHAT THE?!) he must come back so they could retrieve it. Further - he was sent home with NO instruction on how to care for a catheter or wound drainage bag. He had a large open wound from the surgery, no instruction on aftercare for that either. As it was 9pm on Friday night, his pharmacy was closed...and he was sent home with absolutely no medications. Needles to say, we encountered a very rough night. By the time we were finally able to get him uncomfortably in bed, it was midnight. Atrocious. And it gets worse...
...a burst catheter, back to Spring Valley hospital to fix it - TWICE!!! in one night between 1 AM & 5 AM - the after care nurse could not believe the shape he was in to be released early and for THAT, & the lack of patient care - a one star
