| - Patterson Fruit Farm may seem like simply a novelty venue for holding a wedding, but I can assure you that it is actually an outstanding site for such an event. A few years ago, the golf course next door to Patterson Fruit Farm closed and the course reverted to Metropark property. At that time, Patterson acquired the course's club house and other buildings, which are now being used as event space.
The clubhouse sits on a bluff overlooking the valley where forest is slowly reclaiming the golf course. Large picture windows overlook this spectacular view, which includes a small lake. The focal point for the clubhouse is a large fireplace and a rustic atmosphere with gorgeous views on three sides. The room can easily seat 100 guests while keeping the large dance floor open, and seat considerable more if tables are placed on the dance floor for dinner. Speaking of dancing, if you are planning to go with the modern technique for getting exactly the music you want at your wedding - the laptop or iPod playliest - the site has its own sound system ready for you to plug in your own equipment. They will also accommodate a live band.
What really gives this lovely venue five stars, however, is the incredibly helpful and enthusiastic event coordinator, Betty. My friend is getting married there on November 1, and when we visited the site to firm up the details for the wedding, Betty's enthusiasm for helping us make sure the wedding is exactly what the bride and groom wanted made us feel like she was as excited about the wedding as we were. She listened to our questions and concerns and helped come up with inventive and extremely helpful solutions to all of them. Her excitement and attention made us feel like we were her own special guests, and yet she has three weddings scheduled for that one weekend alone, and the room was being set up for a wedding later on the day we were there.
Because Patterson Fruit Farm has no liquor license, you cannot run a cash bar at the site. You may, however, bring your own liquor and bartender for an open bar. Patterson can provide linen and china for your reception. There is also an onsite kitchen that can be used by your caterer, though it is a but small. The facilities are fine for a buffet, but if you intend to do plated sit-down service you should probably talk to Betty first.
The venue cost is extremely reasonable, and the enthusiastic responsiveness of the venue manager is unparalleled. If you are looking for a lovely setting for a wedding - or, really, any kind of gathering - this is definitely worth considering.
