When I first walked by AZ88, I was in college. I thought "whoa, this place is waaaay too ritzy for my budget!" It looked über trendy with an amazing patio with cool people drinking things I couldn't afford... And interesting art installations that change all the time!
But then I found out they actually serve burgers and chicken sandwiches and salads etc. AZ88 was totally affordable! It hasn't changed over the years. The food is still great and the ambience is still really cool. You simply can't find restaurants that look like this that are easily affordable.
So when you go, try the hellfire chips--they sound totally bizarre but are super good--which are homemade potato chips, blue cheese, and hot sauce. You can't go wrong with the burgers or chicken sandwiches. My favorite is the AZ 88 chicken sandwich, which is essentially a buffalo chicken sandwich. The Four Season salad is also great. And don't forget to save room for dessert! Strawberry shortcake!
After 9 pm or so on the weekends it becomes a very crowded and loud bar, so if you want dinner, I suggest you go before 9. If you want to drink and mingle then you'll definitely want to wait until after 9pm to go.
